Dr. Benjamin LaBrot founded Floating Doctors in 2009 to deliver acute care and sustainable capacity building to remote, underserved communities accessible by water. After working in Haiti and Honduras, the Floating Doctors team established an ongoing rural health care system serving a large indigenous population spread across 10,000 square miles of jungle and mangrove mazes in Panama. To date, Floating Doctors has conducted over 120,000 patient consultations in remote jungle mobile clinics, as well as education, training, and local capacity development projects.
Samantha Horn is an experienced Non-Profit Director with a demonstrated history of working in the health care and sustainability industry. Sam joined Floating Doctors in 2019 with the intention of advancing her understanding on serving at-risk populations. Sam is working to study and understand the challenges and practices of international development and communications. She is passionate about building and elevating NGOs to create more visibility and awareness while increasing employee output to create more productivity on the ground.
Daniel Farber Huang is a journalist and documentary photographer focused on women’s and children’s issues and the alleviation of poverty globally. As an independent humanitarian advocate, Daniel has documented refugee camps around the world. His documentary work has been exhibited at Amnesty International and numerous universities. His work is included in the permanent collections of The International Center of Photography, The Museum of the City of New York, New-York Historical Society, and numerous other institutions.
